Luxury press from across the globe gathered in Dubai this Summer as Chivas Regal prepared to unveil the latest addition to their premium whisky collection.
Following a blissful First Class flight on Emirates Airlines, Seven Star checked in at the exquisite Armani Hotel, a ten-floor haven of sophisticated elegance in the world’s highest tower, the Burj Khalifa.
First stop on our world-class whisky journey was a boat trip across the water to The One & Only Royal Mirage for a masterclass with Chivas Master Blender, Colin Scott, the third generation of his family to work in the whisky business From the history behind the Chivas Brothers first Scotch, to a step-by-step blending session, the media left the luxury classroom a little wiser about the science and the art behind distilling whisky.

442 metres high, guests were then welcomed to the world’s highest restaurant, At.Mosphere at the Burj Khalifa, for an evening of unparalleled opulence. So staggering was the view from the floor-to-ceiling windows, we felt like Gods amongst the clouds as we sampled an array of Chivas Regal cocktails.
The festivities continued in a private dining room where guests were treated to a gastronomic feast for all senses, complete with a Chivas Regal whisky pairing to complement each course.
The finale of the evening came with an introduction by Colin Scott as glasses were raised in celebration of the unveiling of Chivas Regal, The Icon. The pinnacle of the brand, The Icon is a blend of some of the oldest, rarest whiskies from over 20 distilleries across Scotland, all aged over 25-years. The craftsmanship of the bottle echoing that behind its contents; a hand-blown Dartington Crystal green decanter, its colour an homage to the original Chivas Regal bottle created in1909.
The Icon is a blend developed with discerning whisky connoisseurs in mind, Seven Star spoke to Colin about this audience and he revealed, “there has been a fundamental shift in the consumer profile of whisky drinkers, it is now appreciated for its heritage and provenance by a much wider and younger audience. This is the new era of whisky’s evolution.”
Chivas Regal The Icon was launched exclusively in Dubai duty free in June and is now available globally. At 40% ABV in 70cl bottles, Chivas Regal The Icon retails in Global Travel Retail for RRP of $3,500 (USD).
